The environment of Griffin Lodge has been designed to create a modern, comfortable home atmosphere with individual en-suite facilities in all the bedrooms. By providing a friendly, warm environment we give residents a sense of belonging and an opportunity to build social attachments with the staff.
The Lodge offers two six bedded bungalows linked by a communal dining room. Each bungalow has a large lounge and two activity rooms for residents to relax in and pursue their interests. There is a patio between the bungalows and pleasant grounds suitable for those interested in gardening or walking. There are picnic tables and chairs for relaxation and barbecues.
Each room comes fully furnished (but if residents choose to use their own furniture this can be accommodated) with its own TV socket and facilities to use personal items such as shavers, hair dryers and CD players. Residents are encouraged to choose the decoration of their rooms. Four of the bedrooms have overhead tracking to accommodate those with physical disabilities.
All bedrooms are lockable and residents have the opportunity to be responsible for their own room key. Special consideration is made to all with reference to deaf culture i.e. staff will flick light switches and wait for the door to be answered in order to maintain privacy and dignity. Only female staff will assist and support with female residents personal needs.
There are two laundry rooms, a catering kitchen and a resident’s kitchen. The kitchen area has fully adjustable working tops, cookers and ancillary equipment for wheelchair users, as do the two laundry rooms.
There is a large dining room where a choice of meals is offered and residents choose from the hostess server. Meals are varied and follow an eight week cycle of menus. Special diets are also catered for, such as gluten free, dairy free or diabetic diets as per individual resident need.
