The 9 residential houses and flats will be registered as either children’s homes or young adult homes. All the learners are grouped by similar ages, needs and interests. They all have their own bedrooms which they are encouraged to personalise by choosing the colour of their room and the soft furnishing. They also have personal televisions/D.V.D. players, games consoles and activity boxes. They also have posters and family photographs on the walls in their rooms, in fact anything to make their rooms as “home from home” as we can possibly make them.
All residential homes are homely and well furnished. There are lounges, dining rooms and some of the homes have their own light interactive rooms.
All meals are cooked by staff in the house kitchens and the learners help wherever they are able. Meals are nutritious and well balanced and take into account children and young people’s personal tastes. The fridges are always full and fresh fruit is always available in case any learner wants
a snack or a drink.
The residential staff are all well trained and qualified to meet the physical and emotional needs of the children and young people they care for and there are waking night staff to ensure that needs are met on a 24hour basis. We also operate an extended curriculum so residents get the opportunity to transfers skills learned in school and college and to develop their self help and independent living skills.
We have excellent facilities and activities available on site including light interactive rooms, swimming, both in a full-sized and a hydro swimming pool, a climbing wall, fully accessible fitness suite, arts and crafts, archery and musical therapy, disco’s, scout troop and a youth club to name just a few. We also make full use of the local community for learners to go shopping for personal requisites and family Birthday cards etc, meals out at local restaurants and pubs, attending youth clubs and discos. We also use public transport of buses, trains and trams and have Variety Club mini-buses to visit parks or for long walks in the Cheshire country or to theme parks and the sea-side.
