Gift Aid

It’s likely you will have heard of Gift Aid but you may be unsure as to how it benefits us.

Why should I use Gift Aid?

Gift Aid is one of the most straight forward ways of making your donation tax effective.

Here's how a £10 donation is affected by Gift Aid: Although basic rate tax is currently 22%, a donation for £10 is treated as the amount after tax is deducted from £12.80 (£12.80 minus 22% is approximately £10). The charity gets £2.80 back from the Inland Revenue, or an additional 28% for basic rate taxpayers.

How do I sign up for Gift Aid?

You need to state that you want the tax paid on your donation to go to us rather than the Inland Revenue.

To do this, download and complete our Gift aid declaration and then return it to us by post or fax.

Do I qualify?

Providing you pay as much tax as we will be entitled to reclaim on your donations, you are entitled to use Gift Aid. For example, if you wish to Gift Aid donations that total £100 in one financial year, you need to have paid at least £28 to Inland Revenue that year.
