Applying to the college

Learners in the college are most usually funded by the Learning & Skills Council often with addtional support from the home local authority

We welcome approaches from students, parents and professionals and we invite them to make an informal visit to the college. There are no specific entry qualifications, however our assessment team will assess learners either in college, or their current education placement in order to determine whether our services can meet the learner’s needs. They like to meet the families and others who support the learner to complete the assessment.

If we are able to offer a course to a learner, then the assessment is forwarded to the Learning and Skills Council and often social services via the Connexions advisor. The LSC and other funding bodies consider the application and at a panel meeting will decide whether funding is granted to learners. Once LSC agrees to fund the placement, the college is able to make a formal offer to the learner.

New learners are offered transition visits to the college during the summer term in order to help them adjust. Overnight stays are offered if they are coming as residential students, these may take place in the summer term or the summer holidays, according to each person’s needs.
