We aim
- To support learners to develop appropriate communication skills in order to promote independence and self advocacy.
- To provide a wide range of relevant learning experiences in life, education and vocational settings to support students in making informed choices.
- To work in partnership with learners, families and supporting services to optimise learning and a successful transition.
- To equip students with relevant skills for life for full participation in all aspects of their lives beyond full time education.
- To promote the health and well-being of our learners and to improve their access to a life in the community
Students are supported by a range of communication systems that meet their individual needs including signing, Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS) and objects of reference. An on-site team of therapists including SALT, physiotherapist, educational psychologist, OT, audiologist , mental health nurse practitioner supports teaching in the educational and residential settings. Psychiatric services are provided on a consultancy basis where needed.
