For key stages 1-4, Learners are grouped according to their needs rather than their year group. Teaching may be class-based or delivered through individual programmes. Up to and including Key Stage 4, the curriculum is based on the Foundation Curriculum and consists of six main areas:
- Communication,
- Literacy and Numeracy,
- Knowledge and Understanding of the World,
- Creative Studies,
- Personal and Social Development
- PE, Sport and Mobility.
ASDAN Accreditation, following the Transition Challenge Programme, is available to learners in years 10 and 11 and follows the progression route to further courses for years 12, 13 and 14.
Where appropriate, delivery of some sessions is by subject specialists in rooms designated for the purpose eg: music, drama, art, design technology, dance and science.
At Key Stage 4 (14-16 years) learners will access a Transition/Careers Education programme, developed in consultation with Stockport Connexions Service. Learners in years 11 upwards also access work experience within the community where appropriate.
Some learners are able to benefit from inclusion into Stockport schools – and this is organised wherever possible.
